Picasso was like that, too, but not to the same extent as Van Gogh. I think Van Gogh was just so sensitive that it caused him a lot of psychic pain. And he was so brilliant at the same time. I find his story fascinating and I love his art work!JerseyLilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18381518701383106141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002257954816576516.post-38027764562772723112012-05-26T08:33:12.556-04:002012-05-26T08:33:12.556-04:00very cool post, madilyn. true artists are inspired...very cool post, madilyn. true artists are inspired and tortured by their own intensity and creativity. Van Gogh is my all-time favorite, too, and I never knew he lived in London or first had his heart broken there until I saw the article about the house sold at auction. You are right, his serious art work was done in later years (didn’t remember it was age 27, thank you). Since he was sketching while in London and had sketched the Hackford house, I had hoped to find a sketch he did of Eugenie. Was not to be but I like the romantic idea that he did a sketch of her and perhaps it will turn up as a lost treasure one day.JerseyLilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18381518701383106141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002257954816576516.post-15883025484236813372012-05-26T01:12:12.209-04:002012-05-26T01:12:12.209-04:00You are so right, Ana, it is a shame no one took c...You are so right, Ana, it is a shame no one took care of the property since they knew Van Gogh had lived there. I guess he just took life way too seriously. But he was a brilliant artist, and a brilliant writer, and in spite of it all, a moving and inspiring figure.nothingprofoundhttp://wwwaphorismscom.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002257954816576516.post-91139123327845447922012-05-25T01:13:43.716-04:002012-05-25T01:13:43.716-04:00Wow, Kristina, an excellent question so I research...Wow, Kristina, an excellent question so I researched it! The outside toilet has walls and a door just like an outhouse. So if someone bought the property, they could conceivably put artwork inside the walls of the outside toilet! That’s what I would have done. Because of your excellent question, I have updated my post with a video tour of the house showing the outside toilet (toward end of video). Thanks! :)JerseyLilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18381518701383106141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8002257954816576516.post-83698166526702557202012-05-24T23:10:38.713-04:002012-05-24T23:10:38.713-04:00Was the outside toilet surrounded by any kind of w...Was the outside toilet surrounded by any kind of wall or was it just opened completely?
