Happy Halloween Once More

Reposting a short Halloween blog piece written a couple years go. Watch out for ghosts and goblins, ‘tis All Hallows’ Eve, the witching night.

Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble…
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
~William Shakespeare, Macbeth

My candle was nearly burnt out when, by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light,
I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open.
~Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

    Good choices, Jersey.
I have to admit I don't like Halloween all that much and witches scare me.

    Hugs,

    1. Thanks Julia. That Van Gogh painting is memorable and powerful, I agree. I don't mind witches at all, but clowns are the ones that scare me! Glad you stopped by! :)

    1. Hi Marty and I hope you had a jolly Halloween too! I have been way too busy doing way too much stuff! For most of Sept, I was in CA on family business and then helping organize a school reunion earlier this month in NJ, plus working. Hope to get back to blogging and reading more blogs soon. Thank you for your lovely comments! :)

  4. From ghoulies and ghosties
    And long-leggedy beasties
And things that go bump in the night,
    Good Lord, deliver us!

    ~ old Celtic prayer (Scottish)

    Blessings and Bear hugs, too!

  6. Happy belated Halloween! Madilyn I love that painting of Van Gogh. Consider he did not have enough academic training, painting with such accuracy is stunning! And brush stokes look so courageous!

    1. Thanks, Yun! I love that Van Gogh painting too, and you are right about the accuracy of the skeleton. It is amazing. And I agree about the brushstrokes. :)

  8. Hi Madilyn,
Yes, I remember that Van Gogh from your earlier post. Can't believe he did that. Kinda more Da Vinci like.
I didn't grow up with Halloween, but I'm learning to like it. Go well!

    1. Hi Neil! Yes, I did that Van Gogh Halloween post a couple years ago. Do you celebrate Halloween in Australia? It's a fun holiday, primarily for the kids. :)
