And what would a festive summer holiday be without ice cream!
Red, White, Blue and Chocolate Sundae
Reposting one of my favorite ice cream creations for the holiday. All the patriotic colors, fruit in season and, of course, chocolate! Enjoy!
Chill dessert dishes in the fridge. Use whole fresh blueberries,
and sliced fresh strawberries. Suggest sprinkling a little sugar (or sugar
substitute) over the sliced strawberries, just enough to make them glisten and remove
some of the tartness.
Put a nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of the chilled dish. Add a layer of sliced strawberries and drizzle with chocolate sauce (I like the dark chocolate sauce). Then another scoop of vanilla ice cream, a layer of blueberries, and drizzle with chocolate sauce. Top with whipped cream, drizzle of chocolate sauce, and garnish with a whole strawberry. Ice cream is a great anytime dessert!
