Tail Wagging News: Hello 2013!

by Roscoe and Coco (JerseyLil's smart pups...because dogs are bloggers, too!)

Tail Wagging Greetings! While our mom, JerseyLil, has been busy painting the bedroom a lovely shade of blue-gray (well, she says it's a lovely color, we are color-blind but as good dogs, we wag our tails in agreement!), we're taking over her computer to say Happy 2013 to all critters everywhere!

You may be wondering...How on earth are those two dogs typing on a keyboard? Well, we are exceptionally smart canines! We have mastered the opposable thumb principle. And what's better than two hands on a keyboard? Four paws, of course!

But shush, don't tell our mom we can do this! She's been wondering how those doggy treat bags get opened even though the cabinet door is closed. When she says, "How did these treats get opened? Did you get into the cabinet?" We just look up wagging our tails in amazement with cute expressions of puzzlement. "How could that happen? Oh, we are just as shocked as you are! And we'd just love one of those peanut butter cookies please."

So while JerseyLil watches paint dry and puts up new shelves in her closet, we've got some interesting tidbits to share. Bring all your dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rodents, any and all pets over to the computer. Think your pets can't read, well think again, we've been foolin' you all these years! We'll share with the human moms and dads too.

January Events to Bark About

Adopt a Rescued Bird Month
Just like rescued dogs and cats, our rescued feathered friends need good forever homes.
Pet Education: Adopt a Rescued Bird Month

Walk Your Pet Month
Four paws up on this, we love walks! Great exercise for two-leggers and four-leggers. Good luck walking the cat though. :)

National Train Your Dog (and maybe your Cat too) Month
Both of us are basically well trained (most of the time anyway!), and we know our basic Sit, Down, Stay commands. We're a bit rusty (well, rusty isn't what our mom calls it!) on our Coming When Called and Walking Without Pulling commands, so it may be time to dig up a few new tips. Good link to pass along to your humans with info on training, playing with toys, socialization, commands, tricks, and more:
Train Your Dog Month Tips

We don't want our cat friends to be left out, so we sniffed around and found information on cat training. (Yeah, cats, if we've gotta be trained, you're getting trained too!)
Association of Pet Dog Trainers Going to the Cats!

January 14 is National Dress Up Your Pet Day
OK, we are Not dressing up LOL! But some of our friends are Party Animals and don't mind dressing up to amuse their humans. We "pinched" some funny pics of animals in costumes from our blog friend, Robert of Mulled Madness.and Mulled Vine. (Thanks for sharing, Robert!) Others we found while sniffing around the Internet. We had fun adding the captions.

    2. I forgot to ask, at what age did you teach Roscoe and Coco to type? :-P

    3. Oh, those smart dogs just taught themselves. I suspect it started after successfully opening the dog food cabinet by themselves LOL! Roscoe is 13 now with some arthritis so Coco (being younger at age 9) does most of the typing. But Roscoe, being the bossy type who thinks he runs the household (oops, maybe he does LOL!) directs. Coco listens then types what she wants (she’s such a girl LOL!). :)

  5. Roscoe or Coco, those dogs look so funny in the pictures. I'd love to see what you would dress us in, given the chance, ha ha ha. I've never heard of cat's being trained, I didn't think it was possible, it's amazing.

Roscoe, you and Coco did a pretty good job on this post today,if Jerseylil finds out she'll have you doing all the typing here so be careful and I'll see you later ha ha ha.

    1. Hi Rum-Punch Drunk, Roscoe and Coco here. Oh, given the chance we’d dress up humans as big bags of dog food and comfy beds to curl up in! But don’t ask the cats, they’d probably pick scratching posts ha ha! Yes, cats can be trained too...well sort of...! Thanks for your encouragement and we’ll be posting again. But first we need doggy treats, big chewy ones! :)

    1. There is?! Had no idea!! So I just Googled it and I see it’s on the Disney channel. I had the idea of dogs blogging over a year ago. Missed my opportunity to pitch it to Disney...LOL!! Thanks CrazyMama! :)

My dogs blogged here a year ago March so I’ll be reposting that for St. Patty’s Day. Plus more guest blogging from them!

    2. I didn't think you knew cause it's a new show and it's primarily for kids, but yeh, next time go to Disney with your ideas...they're better than you know!! I don't remember that last year. I'll have to look at it and see if it jogs my foggy memory. And I wanted to tell you something else that I forgot...what's new?

      Delete
    3. Thanks CrazyMama! I don’t think you’ve ever seen it because it was before we met in the blogosphere. When it was originally posted last year, I had only about half a dozen blog friends then LOL! You’ll see it when I repost it in March...I mean when the dogs repost it LOL!
