Laughter and music can brighten a day!
It has been a while since I last posted, too much work and too little time for the things I love, like blogging. But I am clearing the cobwebs from my desk (yes, literally I have cobwebs, I’ve been sitting at this desk that long!) and taking a break to share some humor and music.

I know I could sure use a
laugh…and I’m betting everyone can...so let's start with some funnies.

Just too cute! |

Music Break
A rockin' bluesy ballad, an upbeat jazz piano solo, and a stirring classical composition.
Take a little time for yourself and listen…sit back with a cup of coffee or tea, glass of red wine or beverage of your choice…close your eyes and let the soulful music take you away.

Rockin' bluesy ballad:
Click on the ink above and scroll down in the article for a new song, an awesome cover of Bruce
Springsteen’s “Drive All Night,” by Irish musician Glen Hansard with Eddie
Vedder (Pearl Jam), and Jake Clemons on sax (nephew of the late, great Clarence
Clemons of the E Street Band). Being born and raised in New Jersey and a
staunch fan of Bruce Springsteen, any cover of his songs has to be top-rate
awesome for me to even consider it, and this one is!
"I'd
drive all night again just to buy you some shoes and taste your tender charm,
And I just wanna sleep tonight again in
your arms…”
Ah, memories...

What fun, especially on a cold, rainy Georgia night. I am "procafinating" as I write this, enjoying your selected piano solos as background music. Loved all the animal funnies, as well as George Carlin and Audrey Hepburn's insights. Too funny about "early Facebook." Boy, have we come a long way :-)
ReplyDeleteKris, I’m “procafinating” every day LOL! So glad you liked all the funnies and the music. Thanks! When I saw that Audrey Hepburn quote, I thought it’d be perfect to include. I found that “early Facebook” one being passed around on Facebook. We have definitely come a long way! :)
DeleteGreat post. Especially for Friday!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Hi Rob-bear, so glad you stopped by! Thanks and Bear hugs to you too! :)
DeleteYou did the trick, Jersey.
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh out loud. I LOVE this post.
I will come back to listen to the music tomorrow because it is too late now.
By the way, this week I had a funny poem of mine accepted for publication. It will be published online on 12/02/2013. A nice combination of humor and irony...
It's great to see you back on your blog, posting, my friend.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend.
I love that you laughed out loud, Julia! :) Great news about your funny poem getting accepted for publication, really looking forward to reading it when it’s published online. Thanks and a wonderful weekend to you too, my friend!
DeleteThat did the trick. The dog pics especially.
ReplyDeleteHappy to make you smile, Big D! :) Those dog pictures are really funny.
DeleteThese were all great, Madilyn. "Before you see what happened upstairs"-really had me in stitches. The look on the shepherd's face is priceless. Also loved Pavlov's cat. We hear so much about science's great achievements, but not about its abject failures. My wife plays that Debussy piece. It's one of my favorites. Hoping to see more of you here and at the forum real soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marty! I love that “Before you see what happened upstairs” one too and it reminded me of a look I’ve seen on my Coco’s face, she’s a shepherd mix. Yes, Pavlov’s cat is very funny and what if he had used cats instead of dogs, a totally different outcome lol! It’s wonderful that your wife plays Debussy’s Reverie. I love many of his compositions including Arabesque, such beautiful music.
DeleteOh I loved the dog ones the best. They just always look so cute. It's just so funny when they do something wrong and then act all innocent as if they can't remember what happened.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like this weekend we were thinking the same way about smiling and laughing :) And the melon-collie dog was hilarious. I wonder if I can re-produce that hat during the summer.
Hi Rum-Punch Drunk and thanks! I always love the dog funnies too. The expressions on their faces can be priceless, and that melon-collie dog was hilarious! Well, reproducing that hat in the summer would be a different way to cool off LOL!
DeleteWhat a joy read on my Monday morning! It gives me a great start of my "weekend". Images are all funny and I cannot pick a favorite. Maybe coffee owls? Fabulous music! I especially like the jazz one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful break from your busy work Madilyn! You've been work too much!
Thanks Yun, happy to make you smile! :) The “coffee owls” are really very funny. Glad you liked the music too, I am a fan of jazz, in particular, jazz piano. Hope you have a great week as well!
DeleteI SO needed this JLil! And I'm with George. You can find me on cloud 8. Cloud 9 is totally over rated. ;)
ReplyDeleteMimi, I’m delighted these funnies brightened your day, thanks! George Carlin is so funny and I’ll take Cloud 8 too, less crowded and with a better view LOL! :)
DeleteYou had me at Audrey Hepburn.
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd love that one, Dale! :) It's a great quote from Audrey Hepburn and it went so perfectly in my post, thanks!
DeleteMadilyn, this post is like Noah's ark! Nearly everything we need is packed in the messages there -humour, irony, satire and soulful quotes, not to speak of the piano numbers and 'Drive all Night'. I spent a lot of time deciding on a favourite but eventually gave up!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Uma! Like a Noah’s Ark, I like that. Yes, I packed a lot in one post to make up for lost time. I’m so glad you enjoyed the piano numbers and the cover of Bruce’s “Drive All Night.” Great article about that song too. I really appreciate that you liked so many you couldn’t pick a favorite. :)
DeleteOh, I really enjoyed this. I chuckled and smiled my way through. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Theresa, gad to make you chuckle! :) Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
DeleteOh dear, that dog talk is just tooooo cute! Thanks for a great laugh. Would not want to miss this one :-))))
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Angelika! Yes, those dogs are just too cute! So glad you stopped by. :)
DeleteThese are great. I can't even pick a fav, but that free air one is so true!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna, I’m glad you enjoyed them! :) Yeah, the free air one is so true!
DeleteStopping by to have a good laugh and, to wish you a very Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Angelika! Happy Christmas to you too! :)
DeleteI love the idea of throwing back the lemons and asking for chocolate. I'll remember that advice :)
ReplyDeleteJenny, I love the idea of throwing back lemons and asking for chocolate! Think I'll remember that advice too. :)
DeleteYou got some good ones this time JerseyLil!!! I can't even pick a fav, but that melon collie is one of em. Thanks for another funny post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna, and glad the funnies made you smile!! That melon collie is a good one. :)
